Design Process

Design engineers who develop sealing solutions for engines, transmissions and other original equipment applications now have a valuable new information resource. A brochure titled “Engineering Technically Reliable, Cost-Effective Sealing Solutions” describes how the ISS systems approach can support OEM design engineers during the product design and development stages.

The eight-page gatefold identifies six key sealing-related technology issues that can help OEMs improve product performance, quality and effectiveness.

They are:
  • Design elements, such as flange composition and surface finishes.
  • Warranty requirements.
  • Sealing environment.
  • Health, safety and environmental considerations.
  • Lower total cost objectives.
  • Best practices.
The brochure profiles our broad-based engineering capabilities and services for OEMs with full-color photographs and charts. Separate brochure sections cover each design step process, beginning with material selection and culminating in design verification and production approval.

The brochure explains how ISS gaskets’ performance characteristics are defined according to properties such as compressive strength, torque retention, and resistance to friction and thermal expansion. There is also information on ISS design, testing and verification tools, such as three-dimensional modeling and the Gasket Material Expert (GMX) software.
