Composed of expanded graphite layers mechanically clinched to a tin-plated steel core, this sealing technology is resilient, compressible and thermally anisotropic. Offering excellent bolt torque retention and heat transfer characteristics, MBG is ideal for gasket and seal applications where surface movement exists. Coatings can be added for improved release characteristics. Stainless steel-reinforced ports for higher temperature applications are optional. Key Features and Attributes Expanded graphite and tinplated steel. Thermally anisotropic heat transfer characteristics. Resilient and compressible, with excellent bolt torque retention. Naturally lubricious. Engineered for exhaust gas sealing at application temperatures of 550°C (1,022°F) and higher. Coatings can be added for improved release properties, microseal and anti-fretting. Optional steel-reinforced ports for higher temperature applications (i.e. head gasket with fire ring).
