Embossed metal gaskets are made from high strength stainless steel for high temperature exhaust applications up to 500°C (932°F) or InconelĀ® for temperatures up to 900°C (1,652°F). Various engineered emboss shapes are offered to provide localized contact stress depending on the needs of the application. Typically used to seal exhaust gases in manifolds, EGR systems, and turbochargers. High-temperature coatings are offered that reduce fretting and compensate for differential thermal expansion and surface finish problems.
Key Features and Attributes
- Engineered for exhaust gas sealing at application temperatures up to 900°C (1,652°F).
- Single layer construction with embossments provides excellent thermal stability and is inert in most chemical environments.
- Coatings can be added for improved release properties, microseal and anti-fretting.
- Custom gasket assembly/retention features available.
Applications
- Embossed stainless steel head gaskets (small engine)
- Embossed stainless steel exhaust flange gaskets
- Turbocharger gaskets
- Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) gaskets
- Emissions control systems
