Interface Sealing Solutions provides over 60 different types of gasket materials, encompassing a wide range of price points, performance capabilities, and intended uses. In use they may be known as die-cut gaskets, fiber gaskets,
flange gaskets and seals for many types of applications.
As material technologies evolve, new groups of products are introduced, which are intended to replace older technology. New products are always expected to offer performance advantages over the products they replace, and can often offer price advantages as well.
The Product Categories section of this website lists products under Brand or Family names. For example, low-cost aftermarket material grades, including cylinder head facing materials, are listed under the “Standard” product category. Current OEM production-grade gasket materials for high performance soft-gasket applications (excludes cylinder head gasketing) are available under the Pro-Formance® and Hydro-Fused® Brands. These products replace the older Thermo-Tork® and Syntheseal® Brands and include high-performance MicroPore® gasket materials.
A selected assortment of these products is presented in a group that we call the “Value Grades”. “Value Grade” products cover the full range of price and performance requirements for virtually all-existing soft-gasket applications. They are described in full technical detail in the “Value Grades Brochure”, a four-color publication available from ISS, which is reproduced in the Product Categories section of this website. The newest Brand in the ISS family is Select-a-Seal®, a Rubber-Edged-Composite (REC) product described fully in the Product Categories section.
Selecting a gasket for an application involves consideration of literally hundreds of factors. It is essentially the task of describing the bolted joint in the technical terms for which there are gasket material performance test properties available. In this way, gasket material performance capabilities can be compared to the requirements of the joint, and different gasket materials can be compared to each other to determine the best fit to the application. The gasket material and thickness are specified simultaneously. Interface Sealing Solutions has access to computer programs that are used to calculate all of the necessary parameters of the joint and, that compare these characteristics to performance properties of gasket materials. The Application Engineering staff is highly trained in the use of these tools, and will gladly assist with the selection of the best gasket material for your application. Please go to the GMX Form and enter the appropriate information to describe your application. Submit this form to Interface Sealing Solutions, and you can expect a reply within 48 hours.
